Wine Label Design
WANDER WINE CO.
I love wandering down the wine aisle in grocery stores. I'm drawn to labels that stand out to me, often choosing a wine based on aesthetic alone. So, when tasked with creating wine labels for this project, I knew exactly where my inspiration would be.
Orin Swift's renowned Machete series served as my muse, its labels resembling vintage Polaroid photos—a look that never seems to go out of style. I wanted to reimagine this concept, injecting a sense of adventure by selecting old photos from past hiking trips of mine. To ensure cohesiveness, I opted for a monochromatic palette, adding noise and blur to age the photos.
For the typography I wanted it to appear that the polaroids were written on with sharpie. For the back of the labels I wanted to keep it clean and simple, so I stuck with black, white, and then the wine description in a color that complemented each grape varietal.
In crafting these labels, I raise a toast to the spirit of adventure and the pursuit to a visual experience at the grocery store. Cheers!
